- •Master the ORDER OF DRAW cold: blood culture → light-blue citrate (coagulation) → red/SST serum → green heparin → lavender EDTA → gray fluoride. It is the single most-tested procedural fact, and capillary collection reverses it (EDTA first).
- •Safety & Compliance (26%) is heavily tested — know OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030), sharps disposal, PPE, and the hepatitis B vaccine (offered free within 10 working days). Hemolysis (falsely high potassium) and its causes come up often.

🗺️ Do you need a state phlebotomy certificate?
Phlebotomy is certified nationally (NHA, ASCP, and others) — the exam is given in English only everywhere. Most states accept a national certification and do not issue their own license. A few states additionally require a STATE certificate, which you still earn by passing the national English-only exam. Our Chinese and Spanish explanations are a study aid.
