Cách kiểm tra In-Cab & Engine-Start Check

Step 3 of the seven-step method. Get in, start the engine safely, then check the gauges, controls, mirrors, windshield and safety equipment. Name each item, point to it, and say what you are checking it for.

Từng bước

  1. 1

Safe start: transmission in neutral (or park), clutch in, parking brake set, then start the engine.

  2. 2

Gauges: oil pressure comes up to normal, air pressure builds, ammeter/voltmeter read normal, coolant temperature begins to rise, and the warning lights/buzzers (oil, coolant, charging, low-air) go out.

  3. 3

Controls: check steering play (no more than about 10 degrees, roughly 2 inches at the rim), clutch/gearshift, accelerator, and the parking-brake and service-brake controls for looseness or sticking.

  4. 4

Mirrors and windshield: clean and adjusted; the windshield is not cracked or obstructing your view.

  5. 5

Wipers and washers: blades not worn, arms spring-tensioned, and the washer works.

  6. 6

    Heater and defroster: work.

  7. 7

Horn(s): the air horn and/or electric horn work.

  8. 8

Emergency equipment: at least three red reflective triangles, a properly charged and rated fire extinguisher, and spare electrical fuses (unless the vehicle has circuit breakers).Quan trọng

  9. 9

Safety belt: present, not ripped or frayed, and it latches securely.

Điểm rớt tự động & bắt buộc

  • Say what you check each item FOR (e.g. 'oil pressure gauge — should read normal within seconds'), not just look at it.
  • Emergency equipment is safety-critical: three red reflective triangles, a charged and rated fire extinguisher, and spare fuses (or circuit breakers).
  • Steering free play should be no more than about 10 degrees (roughly 2 inches at the rim) — more than that is unsafe.

Lỗi thường gặp

  • Naming a gauge or control but not saying what a normal reading/feel should be.
  • Forgetting the emergency kit (triangles, fire extinguisher, fuses).
  • Skipping the wipers/washers, heater/defroster or horn.
  • Not checking that warning lights and buzzers go out after start.

Vì sao quan trọng

The cab check confirms the driver can see, signal, stop and be warned of trouble before the truck ever moves. A dead gauge, a missing fire extinguisher, worn wipers or excess steering play each remove a safety margin a commercial driver depends on — so each is named, checked and reported.
