Costco Warehouse Associate / Stocker (W-2) — On-the-job English

Study in your language — but on the job you'll speak English. These are the real phrases you actually say for this work, with a note in your language. Not a script; common situations workers report.

First day — clocking in and finding your department

  • Hi, it's my first day — where do I clock in?

Ask where to clock in on your first shift.

  • Which department am I assigned to today?

Ask which area (stocking, front end, deli) you're assigned to.

Helping a member on the floor

  • Let me check if we have that in the back.

Tell a member you'll check the stockroom for an item.

  • That item is on aisle 12, on your right.

Direct a member to where a product is.

Asking a supervisor about a task or product

  • Where should I stock these pallets?

Ask a supervisor where incoming pallets go.

  • This box is too heavy — can I get a hand?

🔴 Ask for help with a too-heavy load to avoid injury.

Reporting an injury or emergency

  • I hurt my back lifting — I need to report an injury.

🔴 Report a work injury to your supervisor right away.

  • Please call 911 — a member collapsed and is not responding.

    🔴 Escalate a medical emergency — ask for 911.
