📋 준비물

  • Proof of identity, SSN & ND residency

Bring proof of your legal name and date of birth, proof of your Social Security number, and documents proving North Dakota residency. A federally compliant REAL ID requires these same documents.

  • Driver education & parent consent (if under 18)

Applicants under 18 go through North Dakota's graduated licensing: an instruction permit (available at 14), a parent/guardian's consent, an approved driver education course, and supervised driving hours are required.

📅 예약 방법

  1. 1

    Study the manual and practice

Read the North Dakota Noncommercial Driver License Manual and take practice tests covering signs and signals, rules of the road, alcohol/drug rules, and safe driving.

  2. 2

Make an appointment at an NDDOT office

North Dakota licensing is handled by the NDDOT. An appointment is required — book online at dot.nd.gov. You may also take the knowledge test online at nd.knowtodrive.com.

  3. 3

Pass the vision and knowledge tests

Pass a vision screening and the 25-question knowledge test (20 correct, 80%). Then hold your instruction permit, complete the required supervised driving, and pass the road test to be licensed.

💡 시험 당일 팁

  • The North Dakota knowledge test has 25 questions; you must answer 20 correctly (80%) to pass.
  • The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.08 for drivers 21 and over, with a lower limit for drivers under 21. North Dakota has an implied-consent law — refusing a chemical test results in license suspension, and an open container in the passenger area is illegal.
  • Winter driving is a fact of life in North Dakota: slow down on snow and ice, increase your following distance, and keep your vehicle clear of snow and ice before driving.
