Donning & Doffing PPE (Gown & Gloves) — 방법

Donning and doffing PPE (usually a gown and gloves, plus a mask and eye protection under full precautions) is scored almost entirely on ORDER. Put it on clean-to-dirty and take it off dirty-first, and never let a contaminated surface touch your skin. Remember it as: gloves go on LAST and come off FIRST.

단계별

  1. 1

Perform hand hygiene before putting on any PPE.필수

  2. 2

Put on the GOWN first — tie it at the neck and waist so it covers the torso and wraps the back.

  3. 3

Put on the MASK or respirator — secure the ties or ear loops and fit it snugly over the nose and mouth.

  4. 4

Put on GOGGLES or a face shield if the situation requires eye protection.

  5. 5

Perform hand hygiene again just before gloving.

  6. 6

Put on GLOVES LAST, pulling the cuffs up over the gown cuffs so no wrist or skin is exposed.필수

  7. 7

When care is finished, remove GLOVES FIRST — they are the most contaminated — turning them inside out and discarding them.필수

  8. 8

Remove GOGGLES or the face shield by the headband or earpieces, not by the contaminated front.

  9. 9

Remove the GOWN by untying it and peeling it away from the neck and shoulders, turning it inside out, then roll and discard it.

  10. 10

Leave the room, then remove the MASK or respirator LAST by the ties or loops, without touching the front.필수

  11. 11

Perform hand hygiene immediately after removing all PPE (and any time your hands become contaminated during removal).필수

필수 단계 (놓치지 마세요)

  • Donning order: gown → mask/respirator → goggles/face shield → gloves. Doffing order: gloves → goggles/face shield → gown → mask/respirator.
  • Gloves go on LAST and come off FIRST — they are the most contaminated item.
  • Pull the glove cuffs over the gown cuffs so no wrist skin is exposed.
  • Remove the mask/respirator LAST, after leaving the room, touching only the ties or loops (never the front).
  • Perform hand hygiene after removing all PPE — gloves do NOT replace handwashing.

흔한 실수

  • Putting gloves on before the gown, or taking the gown off before the gloves.
  • Touching the contaminated front of the mask, goggles, or gown during removal.
  • Removing the mask inside the patient's room instead of after leaving it.
  • Skipping hand hygiene after doffing because gloves were worn.

왜 중요한가

PPE is put on clean-to-dirty and taken off dirty-first so that the most contaminated items are handled in the order least likely to spread germs to you. Gloves touch the most, so they go on last (over the gown cuffs, sealing the wrist) and come off first; the mask protected your airway the whole time, so it stays on until you have left the room and comes off by the straps. Hand hygiene bookends the sequence because tiny defects and removal contact mean gloves are never a substitute for clean hands.
