挂接系统(第五轮)怎么检查
Combination vehicles only. The coupling holds the trailer to the tractor, so these are among the most safety-critical items on the whole inspection. Name each part, point to or touch it, and say the exact defect you are checking for.
分步检查
- 1
Fifth wheel mounting and skid plate: securely mounted to the frame with no missing, broken or loose mounting bolts; no cracks in the fifth wheel or its brackets; skid plate greased.
- 2
Fifth wheel jaws locked on the kingpin: the locking jaws are closed around the SHANK of the kingpin (not the head); the gap between the lock jaws is 1/4 inch or less.关键
- 3
No space between the upper and lower fifth wheel: any gap means the kingpin may be riding on top of the closed jaws and the trailer could come loose — a serious defect.关键
- 4
Locking lever / release arm: in the LOCKED position, with the safety latch (safety catch) engaged over the locking lever.关键
- 5
Kingpin and apron: kingpin not bent; the trailer apron sits flush on the fifth wheel and is not bent or cracked.
- 6
Air lines (glad hands): service and emergency lines connected to the correct glad hands, seals good, not cut/cracked/leaking, and supported so they cannot be crushed, tangled or dragged while turning.关键
- 7
Electrical (tractor-protection) line: connected firmly and safety-latched, insulation not cut or worn.
- 8
Sliding fifth wheel (if equipped): locking pins fully engaged, not worn or missing, and positioned so the tractor frame clears the landing gear on turns.
- 9
Landing gear: fully raised, crank handle secured, no missing, bent or damaged parts.关键
自动挂科与必做要点
- Fifth wheel jaws locked around the kingpin shank, locking lever LOCKED, and the safety latch engaged over it — the top items a bad coupling can drop a trailer on.
- No space between the upper and lower fifth wheel; jaw gap 1/4 inch or less.
- Air and electrical lines secured and not dragging or tangled; glad-hand seals good and not leaking.
- Landing gear fully up and the crank handle secured before driving.
常见错误
- Not looking into the fifth wheel gap to confirm the jaws are closed on the kingpin shank.
- Missing a gap between the upper and lower fifth wheel, or a jaw gap over 1/4 inch.
- Forgetting the safety latch over the locking lever.
- Leaving air lines that can be crushed/dragged, or landing gear not fully raised/secured.
为什么重要
If the fifth wheel is not fully locked on the kingpin, the trailer can separate from the tractor at speed — one of the most catastrophic failures on the road. That is why the locked jaws, no upper/lower gap, safety latch, secured air lines and raised landing gear are checked and said out loud every trip.
