Cómo hacer Brinda cuidado de sonda (femenino)

Catheter care cleans the first few inches of tubing where it leaves the body. Two rules carry the whole skill: hold the catheter at the meatus so you never tug it, and always clean, rinse, and dry DOWN the tube away from the body, one direction, a fresh area of cloth each stroke.

Paso a paso

  1. 1

Explain the procedure while facing the client, speaking clearly, slowly, and directly.

  2. 2

Provide privacy with a curtain, screen, or door.

  3. 3

Check the water temperature for safety and comfort and ask the client to confirm it feels comfortable.

  4. 4

Put on clean gloves before washing.Crítico

  5. 5

Place a linen protector under the perineal area, including the buttocks, before washing.

  6. 6

Expose the area around the catheter, uncovering the client only between hip and knee.

  7. 7

Apply soap to a wet washcloth.

  8. 8

Holding the catheter at the meatus without tugging, wash at least four inches of catheter starting at the meatus, moving in only one direction away from the meatus, using a clean area of the cloth for each stroke.Crítico

  9. 9

Holding the catheter at the meatus without tugging, use a clean washcloth to rinse at least four inches of catheter, again only one direction away from the meatus, a clean cloth area per stroke.Crítico

  10. 10

Holding the catheter at the meatus without tugging, dry at least four inches of catheter moving away from the meatus with a dry towel/washcloth.Crítico

  11. 11

Empty, rinse, and dry the basin and place it in the designated dirty-supply area.

  12. 12

Dispose of used linen in the soiled-linen container and dispose of the linen protector appropriately.

  13. 13

Avoid contact between your clothing and the used linen.

  14. 14

Remove and discard gloves without contaminating yourself and wash your hands.Crítico

  15. 15

Leave the signaling device within reach and the bed in a low position.

Pasos críticos (no los omitas)

  • Hold the catheter at the meatus without tugging every time you wash, rinse, or dry; tension can traumatize the urethra or dislodge the catheter.
  • Clean at least four inches of tubing, starting at the meatus and moving AWAY from the body.
  • Move in only ONE direction down the tube with a clean cloth area per stroke; never scrub back and forth toward the body.
  • Wash, rinse, AND dry the tubing as three separate down-the-tube passes.
  • Keep the client covered except between hip and knee, and finish by removing gloves without self-contamination and washing hands.

Errores comunes

  • Wiping back and forth or toward the meatus, dragging bacteria to the insertion site.
  • Tugging or pulling on the catheter while cleaning.
  • Cleaning less than four inches of tubing or reusing the same soiled area of the cloth.
  • Overexposing the client instead of uncovering only between hip and knee.

Por qué importa

An indwelling catheter is a direct highway into the bladder, so any bacteria pushed toward the meatus can cause a serious urinary tract infection; cleaning strictly outward, one direction, fresh cloth per stroke, moves organisms away from the body rather than into it. Stabilizing the catheter at the meatus prevents the pulling that injures the urethra or breaks the closed system, which is exactly what examiners watch for on every wash, rinse, and dry pass.
