Dresses a Client With an Affected (Weak) Arm — 방법

Dressing a client with a weak arm comes down to one memorable rule: the affected (weak) arm goes IN first and comes OUT last. Offer a choice of clothing, keep the client covered, and never force the stiff joint.

단계별

  1. 1

Explain the procedure while facing the client, speaking clearly, slowly, and directly.

  2. 2

Provide privacy with a curtain, screen, or door.

  3. 3

Ask which shirt the client wants and dress them in the shirt of their choice.필수

  4. 4

Avoid overexposing the client by keeping the chest covered.

  5. 5

When removing the old gown, take it off the strong (unaffected) side first, then off the weak (affected) side.필수

  6. 6

Place the removed gown in the soiled-linen container before dressing.

  7. 7

Put the weak (affected) arm through its sleeve FIRST, before dressing the strong (unaffected) arm.필수

  8. 8

While putting on the shirt, move the body gently and naturally, avoiding force or over-extension of limbs and joints.필수

  9. 9

Finish with the clothing in place and properly arranged.

  10. 10

Leave the signaling device within reach and the bed in a low position.

  11. 11

Wash your hands after completing the skill.필수

필수 단계 (놓치지 마세요)

  • Dress the weak/affected arm FIRST and undress it LAST ('weak in first, weak out last').
  • When undressing, remove clothing from the strong (unaffected) side first.
  • Offer a choice of garment and honor it, respecting the client's dignity and autonomy.
  • Keep the chest and body covered to avoid overexposure.
  • Move joints gently and never force or over-extend the affected limb.

흔한 실수

  • Dressing the strong arm first, then struggling to fit the stiff weak arm into a nearly-closed sleeve.
  • Forcing or over-extending the affected joint.
  • Choosing the garment for the client instead of offering a choice.
  • Overexposing the client during the change.

왜 중요한가

A weak or paralyzed arm has limited range of motion, so it is threaded into the sleeve while the garment still has the most slack (dressing) and freed only after the good arm is already out (undressing); doing it in the other order forces the rigid joint through a tight opening and can cause pain or injury. Offering a choice and keeping the client covered protect dignity, which the examiner also scores.
