    Study the manual and practice

    Read the Oregon Driver Manual and take practice tests. You can take the knowledge test online at DMV2U.Oregon.gov anytime, or at a DMV office.

    Take the knowledge test

    Take it online with a desktop or laptop (keyboard, mouse, and webcam), or in a DMV office by standby service or appointment. Applicants under 18 need a Proctor over 21 to supervise the online test.

    Bring all required documents

    Bring proof of identity, date of birth, current Oregon residence address, and the test fee. A vision test is done on-site at no charge.

💡 Test Day Tips

  • The Oregon Class C knowledge test has 35 questions; you must answer 28 correctly (80%) to pass.
  • You may apply for an instruction permit in Oregon at age 15.
  • Oregon's basic rule requires you to drive at a speed that is reasonable and cautious for existing conditions, even if it is below the posted speed limit.
  • Oregon's Move Over law requires you to change lanes or, if you cannot, slow to at least 5 mph under the posted speed limit for stopped vehicles with flashing lights.
  • When a traffic signal is dark, such as during a power failure, treat the intersection as if there are stop signs in all directions.
