💡 Test Day Tips

  • PA's knowledge test is only 18 questions — but you must answer 15 correctly (83%), so every question counts.
  • PA uses a point system: 11 points = license suspension. Accumulate 3+ points in 12 months and they reset to 0 if no violations.
  • GDL: learner's permit at 16; must hold for 6 months with 65 hours of supervised driving (10 at night, 5 in bad weather).
  • School bus: you must stop at least 10 feet from a school bus with flashing red lights — violation means 60-day suspension.
  • You must notify PennDOT of an address change within 15 days of moving.
  • In work zones, you must turn on headlights — this is a PA-specific requirement.
